This time around we take a look at YouTube cover stars Pomplamoose and their version of Mark Owen’s “Makin’ Out”.

In case you’re not a fan of fabulously successful Brit Boy Bands, Mark Owen is a member of the group Take That.  Known mainly for its 90’s hits like “Back For Good” and recent number ones like “Shine,” Take That is one of the few groups in the world that broke up and came back as strong as they were before.

The indie duo Pomplamoose is comprised of multi-instrumentalists Jack Conte and Nataly Dawn, the singer in the group.  Their infectious covers range from a rather brilliant rendition of Gaga/Beyonce’s “Telephone” to their latest, a fun version of the “Angry Birds Theme Song”.

While some artists may not appreciate their songs reworked by others, Owen liked the Pomplamoose cover so much, he had them perform “Makin’ Out” at his 2008 wedding.

It’s fun to see artists like Pomplamoose take a song and make it their own.  I believe that’s really the only way to do it.  If you hew to close to the original, what’s the point?

Here’s a side-by-side look at the Mark Owen original and the Pomplamoose cover.  Which is your favorite?
