With tornadoes, floods, earthquakes, tsunamis, economic uncertainty and all the other sad and depressing things that are going on in the world, we need to find those moments where we can let it all go and just be…happy.

Do you have a song that makes you smile when it comes up on your iPod? Maybe it brings back special memories, or reminds you of your carefree childhood days. At Record Rebellion, we want to feature your “Happy Song” on the site. Comment on this post and let us know the name of your happy song, and why it brightens your day. In the coming weeks, we’ll present these songs in an attempt to lighten our collective hearts and make us happy.

Our first Happy Song is by up-and-coming Aussie/Kiwi artist Kimbra. I discovered Kimbra and her song “Cameo Lover” last week via the Bedlam of Beefy blog and was instantly hooked. “Cameo Lover” is a mix of captivating vocals, a sunny and bright track and intriguing lyrics. The video captures the effervescence of the song and Kimbra’s retro prettiness and quirky performance style is a breath of fresh air. “Cameo Lover” is a special song, and it heralds a bright new musical talent. I can’t wait to hear more from Kimbra.

“Cameo Lover” is definitely my happy song for the summer. What’s yours?
